United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
January 21 @ 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM
This is a joint event with our friends, the Prime Timers of Washington, DC.
We will meet at the museum to learn and commemorate our LGBTQ brothers and sisters, along with millions of Jewish people and others considered undesirable who were murdered by the 1940s Nazi regime. It will be stark reminder on the importance of supporting and preserving democracy in our country, lest autocrats take over and force their will on society.
Tickets, which cost $1 must be purchased online. Ticket purchases have a timed-entry. Please buy tickets for 3:00 p.m. or just before then so the group can meet and tour together.
If you drive, note from the Museum’s transportation page that “the Museum does not have a public parking facility, but there is a paid parking garage located across the street, on D Street, SW, between 13th and 14th Streets, and some metered parking along Independence Avenue (which is free on Sundays).
The National Park Service has designated approximately ten handicap-accessible parking spaces at and around the Washington Monument, along Independence Avenue west of 14th Street, and at the Tidal Basin parking lot for vehicles with appropriate tags.
The nearest Metro stop is Smithsonian on the Orange, Blue, and Silver lines, located one block east of the Museum. For more information on Metro and bus routes, visit the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s website.”
After the tour, anyone who wishes can meet for dinner at Freddie’s Beach Bar and Restaurant, 555 23rd Street South, Arlington VA 22202 at 6:00 p.m. Contact Richard S. at diningout@ptbalto.org to coordinate carpools.
