DESCRIPTION:Ah\, the appeal of Pegah’s in Shawnee. Sure\, the food is pretty darn good and plentiful. Yeah\, the coffee is hot and reasonably potent (I’m lookin’ at you\, Denny’s!) and we get a semi-private (well\, sort of) back room. But the real charm of the place is when our favorite waitress snarls at us\, “Hey old men – are you ready to order?!” You cannot put a price on that. \nClearly we really like this eatery as evidenced by the fact we all tend to hang around way past 1:30. We have a large crowd of PTKC’ers every Friday so it’s worth the jaunt. Parking can be a little tight but you’ll find a space – not to worry. DESCRIPTION:Hey\, food and a play! We’re the fancy pants PTKC’ers! Well\, maybe not fancy pants but “Rumors is a witty\, farsical play by Neil Simon that premiered in 1988. Emmy award winner Alley Mills has the lead and we’re sure to have fun! Better yet\, we get to eat! This is a matinee performance and doors open at 11:45 AM and your choice of lunch is served at 12:15 PM. Now keep in mind that you should arrive a little early to avoid the rush. Now for this performance\, PTKC purchased 12 seats. The cost is $73.00/person which includes your lunch and one round of beverages (coffee\, tea or pop). Desert is not included. But we’re all watching our waistlines\, right? Okay\, okay. I’m watching mine! \nGentlemen\, keep in mind that if you confirm that you want a ticket via Punchbowl payment is required in advance.  We’re not being cruel and unreasonable here but we’ve had a couple of instances where people did not show up and our funds took a hit. We’re trying to avoid that and my ticket scalping career ended decades ago. So\, we have a few options to do this. You can send your check to PTKC at PO Box 1543\, Mission\, KS 66222\, or pay by cash or check to any PTKC Board member. Payments must be received at least seven days before the event. Unfortunately\, we are unable to offer refunds for these performances. \nLastly\, we’re asking that everyone take good care of themselves and consider getting Covid and flu vaccines. DESCRIPTION:Ah\, the appeal of Pegah’s in Shawnee. Sure\, the food is pretty darn good and plentiful. Yeah\, the coffee is hot and reasonably potent (I’m lookin’ at you\, Denny’s!) and we get a semi-private (well\, sort of) back room. But the real charm of the place is when our favorite waitress snarls at us\, “Hey old men – are you ready to order?!” You cannot put a price on that. \nClearly we really like this eatery as evidenced by the fact we all tend to hang around way past 1:30. We have a large crowd of PTKC’ers every Friday so it’s worth the jaunt. Parking can be a little tight but you’ll find a space – not to worry. DESCRIPTION:So\, before we chat about bridge\, did you know that contract bridge has its origins in the 16th Century? And\, about 15 million Americans age 45 and over know how to play and about 5 million of them play at least a few times a year. Kinda’ nifty\, huh? Now my exposure to this game started when I was a mere lad. My folks loved the game and attempted to teach me to play. Unfortunately I was more eager to continue my clandestine assignation with GI Joe and Ken (stolen from my sister) who were carrying on a torrid affair unbeknownst to poor Barbie (also stolen from my sister).  But enough about that. Back to bridge. PTKC has a monthly bridge group on the second Thursday of each month.  Games are held at Jim Wright’s home and\, even better\, all skill levels are welcome to join in. Want to join the game? Just keep an eagle eye out for the Punchbowl invitation from Jim!\nSame stuff about vaccines\, guys.
