DESCRIPTION:Man\, this Potluck is gonna be a blast! Our beloved board members\, Jim and Sam\, are not only hosting their monthly movie night but they’re also sponsoring our November Potluck! I’d act all humble and appreciative but I know I’ll be drafted to help out. Still\, it’s quite the endeavor! First we dine starting at 5 PM and then two movies will be shown simultaneously in their spacious residence and you can choose which one appeals to you. We’ll announce the movies as soon as\, well\, as soon as somebody tells me what they are. But here’s what’s gonna be fun. It’s a Chili Competition! That’s right\, the entrées this evening are select chiles. We’ll do a quick tally of the votes and the winner will receive glowing accolades for life! FOR LIFE!!\nNow you know the drill. SUMMARY:Dinner at True Food Kitchen on The Plaza
DESCRIPTION:We last visited True Food Kitchen in September and I tagged along that night. That was the right choice ’cause the food (and company) was great! We even had a really cute waiter! You really can’t quibble with a restaurant with this slogan. “Delicious by chefs\, nutritious by science.” The food is locally sourced\, largely organic and no seed oils are used in their kitchen. Now before you start the eye rolling take a gander at their menu. I mean\, c’mon! Sourdough pizza\, all sorts of salads and bowls and their entrées? Lasagne al pesto\, grass-fed meatloaf\, sustainably raised salmon\, grilled tenderloin and I’ll just stop there. But\, this place is definitely worth a visit!\nSo\, let’s make it a great night! Oh\, and do yourselves a favor\, fellas\, and get a jab or two in that arm. It’s cold and flu season after all so stay healthy!

DESCRIPTION:Ah\, the appeal of Pegah’s in Shawnee. Sure\, the food is pretty darn good and plentiful. Yeah\, the coffee is hot and reasonably potent (I’m lookin’ at you\, Denny’s!) and we get a semi-private (well\, sort of) back room. But the real charm of the place is when our favorite waitress snarls at us\, “Hey old men – are you ready to order?!” You cannot put a price on that. \nClearly we really like this eatery as evidenced by the fact we all tend to hang around way past 1:30. We have a large crowd of PTKC’ers every Friday so it’s worth the jaunt. Parking can be a little tight but you’ll find a space – not to worry. So\, join us! \nGentlemen\, as a reminder\, we encourage you to protect yourself and fellow Prime Timers by getting the latest flu and Covid vaccines. Thanks\, guys.

DESCRIPTION:My\, my. Ain’t we the swanky bunch. Now occasionally we go a tad upscale and Brown & Loe in KC’s River Market is the perfect venue. In the 1940’s\, Brown and Loe was originally a produce broker in the Merchant’s Bank building. Fast forward to today and Brown and Loe Restaurant celebrates some really outstanding American comfort cuisine. This is a true local venue\, evidenced by the restaurant’s allegiance to the resident farmers and food artisans who supply most of the restaurant’s fresh ingredients. Yeah\, it’s a bit pricey\, but not over the top nuts. You’re gonna enjoy this place.\nI’ll see you there. (Oh\, and keep Vinny the Vaccine Fairy happy!)\n  \n
