DESCRIPTION:The year was 1933. Prohibition had just been repealed\, we were between two World Wars and nary a cardiologist prescribed baby aspirin.  THEN. COMETH. STROUDS!! Now Stroud’s award winning fried chicken came about because during WW II\, beef was rationed and Helen Stroud started serving pan-fried chicken. The original chicken dinner was only $.35! Now\, of course\, Stroud’s has garnered multiple awards including the prestigious James Beard honorific. But by now you’re thinkin’ enough with the typing! IT’S FRIED CHICKEN so get outta’ my way!!\nSo\, off we go north. If you haven’t been this place is both rustic and charming. I suggest wearing stretch pants\, fellas. Stay healthy\, get ready and feast with us!

DESCRIPTION:Ah\, the appeal of Pegah’s in Shawnee. Sure\, the food is pretty darn good and plentiful. Yeah\, the coffee is hot and reasonably potent (I’m lookin’ at you\, Denny’s!) and we get a semi-private (well\, sort of) back room. But the real charm of the place is when our favorite waitress snarls at us\, “Hey old men – are you ready to order?!” You cannot put a price on that. \nClearly we really like this eatery as evidenced by the fact we all tend to hang around way past 1:30. We have a large crowd of PTKC’ers every Friday so it’s worth the jaunt. Parking can be a little tight but you’ll find a space – not to worry. So\, join us! \nGentlemen\, as a reminder\, we encourage you to protect yourself and fellow Prime Timers by getting the latest flu and Covid vaccines. Thanks\, guys.

The festival runs from Friday\, June 5 through Sunday\, June 7 and includes The Pride Parade on Saturday. We need at least two volunteers at the booth for all three days.
