The music will creep up on you\, the dance floor will take hold of you\, and you will revel in boisterous pleasure. \nNo cover charge. \nWhy do they call it a tea dance? \nTea dances were events organized on Sunday afternoons in the homosexual community in New York beginning in the 1950s and 1960s. The name alludes to traditional tea dances of the English countryside. The dances included tea service. They were a place for singles to meet.
