In 2023\, Daniel was appointed Robert Page Music Director of the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh (MCP)\, the “chorus of choice” of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO). \nKeith P. informed our group that he has acquired ten tickets to the free concert and kindly requested that the group RSVP to Pittsburgh_Pt@yahoo.com in order to secure the tickets he has obtained. However\, he also informed everyone that in the event that more than ten people were interested in attending\, additional tickets could be purchased for free through the Mendelssohn website or through Keith. Please RSVP by March 4th. It is sure to be a memorable and enjoyable event\, thanks to Keith’s thoughtfulness and the Mendelssohn Choir’s talented new music director. \nWe will meet 15–30 minutes before the show at the main entrance\, 116 S. Highland Avenue\, Pittsburgh\, PA 15206. This entrance is specially designed to be wheelchair accessible\, with no steps. It provides easy access for individuals with disabilities. \nThe elevator is located near the sanctuary\, toward the south end of the building. We’ll meet at 1461 Scrubgrass Road\, Scott Township. \nDiscover the historical significance of the Kane Woods Nature Area\, a 72-acre preserve featuring two miles of trails. \nThe nature area commemorates the Whiskey Rebellion\, a pivotal moment in U.S. history. In 1794\, facing Revolutionary War debt\, President George Washington enacted a whiskey tax. When local farmers\, whose income heavily relied on whiskey production\, resisted\, they formed an angry mob. They descended upon General John Neville’s estate on Bower Hill\, burning his mansion and other buildings to the ground. In response\, Washington dispatched 13\,000 troops to quell what became known as the Whiskey Rebellion. A historical marker near the trails commemorates the infamous march of the “Whiskey Boys.” \nTrailhead: 1461 Scrubgrass Road\, Scott Township Level of Difficulty: Easy to Moderate \nDon’t Miss: The Mother Tree \nBe sure to see The Mother Tree\, an enormous red oak on the JCC Trail. This impressive tree is approximately 52 inches in diameter and is officially dated by the state forestry department to be 200-250 years old.

(WKBN) — The Historic Warner Cascade Theatre Museum in New Castle. \nThe Cascade was the Warner Brothers’ first theater. It opened Feb. 2\, 1907. Now\, it’s been turned into a museum with two theaters to honor the Warner Brothers legacy and where it all began. \n“It’s the only one of its kind\, it’s not another Warner Brothers theater\, it’s the Warner Brothers theater\,” said museum acting curator Bob Vargo. \nThe Warner brothers began by showing The Great Train Robbery during Youngstown’s summer county fairs. Once winter came\, they turned a closed hotel into the Cascade. \nBob Vargo said the museum replicates the original theatre. \n“They turned into a theatre\, 99 chairs — and we do have one of the original chairs that they borrowed from the funeral home down the street\,” Vargo said. \n\n\n\n“We have some really unique and significant memorabilia in our museum that pertains to the history of the Warner family\,” Kern said. \n“It’s beautifully laid out\, and it’s just amazing what they’ve done. I mean there are things there that I want copies of because I don’t have them\, you know\, like the immigration papers of my great-grandfather in 1888\,” said Harry Warner’s granddaughter Cass Warner. \nWhen Warner and Kern met in 1994\, the building was about to be torn down.
