SUMMARY:The Western Pennsylvania Model Railroad Museum - This Friday!
DESCRIPTION:The Western Pennsylvania Model Railroad Museum is dedicated to promote and preserve the history of railroads in Western Pennsylvania through the hobby of model railroading. Using model railroading displays and reference materials on the railroad industry and model railroading\, the WPMR educates and entertains students and enthusiasts around the world. \nThe Museum’s main attraction\, a 40′ X 100′ scale representation of the tracks between Pittsburgh\, Pa. and Cumberland\, Md. set in the summer of 1952 will bring back fond memories of the PrimeTimers recent trip to Cumberland Md. where we rode the  Frostburg Flyer steam powered locomotive. \nThose PrimeTimer adventurers who have been bicycling this past year on the GAP trail will also appreciate the museums replica of this particular section of rail line which has been transformed into what now is the Great Allegheny Passage a bicycle trail. \nIn addition to this display\, the museum also maintains a collection of historical model train sets and many replications of historical building that still exist in today. The museum also offers Model Railroading Classes. \n\n\n\nIf you are interested in attending this event let us know!\nIf you have available room in your car or need a ride let us know!\nNo RSVP is required\, but we’d like have an idea of the group size to plan for a casual dinner afterwards.\nContact us at our email address: Pittsburgh_PT@yahoo.com or call us by phone at: 412-212-6464.\n\n\n\nFYI: \n“HO” scale is used for the layout of the main display. The museum also has Lionel train sets sometimes known as “O” scale which were found under the Christmas trees of many American homes in days gone by. \nThe requested donation for The Holiday Train Show is $10.00 for adults. \nThe event is scheduled for: Friday\, December 30 @ 11:00 am \nMore information will follow… \n
