We will be staying at a restored loggers’ quarters in the quaint\, historic Cass Scenic Railroad State Park\, then climbing aboard the train for the Bald Knob excursion powered by an authentic steam-driven locomotive. \nDuring our journey\, we will be surrounded by breathtaking scenery and stunning autumn foliage. The vibrant colors of the leaves and the crisp mountain air will make for an unforgettable adventure.\n \nIn addition to the train ride\, there is the option to visit the Green Bank Telescope nearby. This impressive structure is the world’s largest fully steerable radio telescope and is used by scientists from around the world to study everything from pulsars to black holes. \nThis trip offers a unique opportunity to explore some of West Virginia’s most beautiful natural landscapes and learn about its rich history. \nWe have reserved overnight lodging for the night of Tuesday\, October 10. Cost will depend on the total number staying\, and will likely be about $25 per person. \nPPT has purchased 10 train tickets because they are starting to sell out already. Open Streets Pittsburgh 2023 is scheduled to take place on May 28th\, June 25th and July 30th\, 2023. The event features different routes through the city\, including car-free tunnels\, bridges\, and business districts. \nIf you don’t ride a bike come along anyway; Open Streets provides a safe space for people of all ages to ride bicycles\, walk or enjoy entertainment and festivities in city streets that are closed off to vehicular traffic for the day. Led by an artist educator\, the tour will take us on a colorful\, sometimes poignant\, journey through the pop art icon’s personal life and work while exploring his unique place in LGBTQ+ history. \nLocated on Pittsburgh’s North Side\, the Museum is the largest repository of Warhol’s art and archives. We’ll meet in the Museum lobby at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday\, March 18th 2023. (The tour begins at 1:00 p.m.) Details below. Don’t miss the opportunity to discover this Pittsburgh native’s world and see why he remains one of the most influential artists of our time. \nAdmission: $23 for adults and $11 for seniors (age 65 and older). \nAdmission is free with Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh membership.
