PrimeTimers\u00ae Member Brett Rutherford came to Pittsburgh in 2016 and quickly found a favorite Chinese restaurant in Squirrel Hill. It was originally known as \u201cSakura,\u201d serving both sushi and Chinese food, but now it has re-opened as \u201cAmazing Dumplings\u201d with a new menu centering on colorful dumplings and noodle dishes originating in North China. The dumplings and their fillings are created by Ping Geng, and her husband, Feng Gao, supervises the creation of spicy dishes from North China.<\/p>\n
For our \u201cDumpling Party,\u201d Ping Geng will explain the art of new-style dumpling-making, with colorings and fillings she has created. Brett Rutherford, a publisher and book designer, offered to help in the restaurant\u2019s refurbishing, so he designed more than a dozen large-format digital prints centering on the art of China\u2019s Tang and Song dynasties, art created while Europe was still in the Middle Ages. Brett will give us a guided tour of the digital art created for Amazing Dumplings.
