DESCRIPTION:JOIN US FOR THIS LONG-AWAITED IN-PERSON EVENT!! \nPTSL FALL PICNIC AT WEHNER PARK IN SHREWSBURY\, MO. on Saturday\, September 16\, 2023\, 11:00 AM – 2:30 PM. \nThe event will be held at the Center Pavilion in Wehner Park in Shrewsbury.  The pavilion is close to semi-handicap accessible bathrooms and has seating at picnic tables for up to 80 persons.  Parking is free and is 50 feet from the pavilion.  Wheelchair accessible.  Bring a lawn chair if picnic tables are not your preference. \nEveryone will need to bring their own food.  Bottled water and soda (with ice) will be provided by the chapter\, although you can bring your own beverages.  Alcohol is permitted\, but is BYOB.  NOTE: No glass bottles are allowed.  Electricity is available at the shelter\, and there is also a concrete path to see the park and surrounding areas. \nAn RSVP is required to attend by Thursday\, September 14 (Accepts only) by clicking on this link or emailing rsvp@primetimersstl.org.  You will then receive a reply email with directions for how to get to the park\, as well as the location of the picnic in the park. \nThe event will be held at the Center Pavilion in Wehner Park in Shrewsbury\, rain or shine. DESCRIPTION:Tuesday October 10 at 7:00 PM. \nThis free Zoom talk will focus on the Osage\, because of their connections to St. Louis.  Other native peoples within Missouri included the Kickapoo\, Shawnee\, Ioway\, Otoe\, Delaware\, Osage\, and others.  Some of these groups lived in Missouri for centuries; some of them came to Missouri because of the growing number of white inhabitants in the east.  Doug Schneider will discuss what indigenous life was like before Missouri was settled and after it was settled.  He will also cover the reasons why there are no federally-recognized tribes in Missouri today. \nEvery PTSL member will receive an email with a Zoom link for the talk.  Non-members can request a Zoom link by emailing Doug at ParadiseDouglas@gmail.com
