This free Zoom talk will focus on the Osage, because of their connections to St. Louis.\u00a0 Other native peoples within Missouri included the Kickapoo, Shawnee, Ioway, Otoe, Delaware, Osage, and others.\u00a0 Some of these groups lived in Missouri for centuries; some of them came to Missouri because of the growing number of white inhabitants in the east.\u00a0 Doug Schneider will discuss what indigenous life was like before Missouri was settled and after it was settled.\u00a0 He will also cover the reasons why there are no federally-recognized tribes in Missouri today.<\/p>\n
