Just as well\, I didn’t want to get rid of them anyway!  I’ll think of something.  In the meantime\, this is the time for our Winter Survival Kits.  For the new people\, Winter Survival Kits are sacks of goodies\, like oatmeal packets\, popcorn packets\, instant soup mixes or canned soup\, etc. that we give to each other.  It’s for a sick day or just a lazy winter’s day when you don’t feel like doing anything\, but have something on hand to eat.  I have four kinds of instant Oatmeal packets\, some Welch’s Mixed Fruit Snacks\, and flavored water pouches\, for everybody.   Someone suggested bringing in coupons to share.  Bring what you would like to contribute\, no matter how much you have.  I’ll have bags\, so everyone can have one.

From the days when it was a trade corridor and meeting ground to the city’s waste drain to a recreation hub\, the Arkansas River has been a defining character in the city’s story. Wichita has loved and ignored and even abused one of its most signature features. Here’s a chance to talk about that complicated interaction. \nBio: \nJay M. Price is a Professor of History at Wichita State University\, where he also directs the Local and Community History Program. His current works include a biography of Kansas Governor and U.S. Chief Archivist John Carlin\, explorations of entrepreneurship in Wichita\, and a number of architectural history projects including the reuse of masonic structures.
