\nwith AIDS.\u201d That wasthe hate and the ignorance that we faced at the time. Sen. Jessie Helms opposed increased funding for AIDS research and even fought reauthorization for the Ryan White Act in 1995.<\/p>\n
Can you imagine the tens of thousands of AIDS people who have died needlessly from the inaction on part of our government due to people like Helms? Can you imagine the force and the gains that we could have made had our generation not have been so decimated by this insidious disease? Can you imagine what life would have been like if it wasn\u2019t for the loss of so many of our lovers, family, friends and acquaintances? For this and others is the reason that we remember on World AIDS Day.<\/p>\n
