Tri-City Gathering – St. Louis, MO

We’re bringing members from Kansas City, Mid-Missouri and St. Louis together for a terrific event in St. Louis. Food, fun, sights to visit and the opportunity to meet and socialize with our peers across the state. The event takes place on Saturday, May 10th from 3 – 6 PM. But wait, there’s more! If you want, we’re making a weekend out of it and we have various options available. Read on for the details.

A. Travel and Lodging Options

1. Driving

• Option 1a. (Saturday Arrival, Host Stay):
  • Drive to St. Louis on Saturday morning, arriving by 3:00 PM.
  • Stay overnight with a St. Louis Prime Timers member.
  • Return home on Sunday.
• Option 1b (Saturday Arrival, Hotel Stay):
  • Drive to St. Louis on Saturday morning, arriving by 3:00 PM.
  • Stay one night in a hotel.
  • Return home on Sunday.
• Option 1c (Friday Arrival, Hotel Stay):
  • Drive to St. Louis on Friday.
  • Stay two nights in a hotel.
  • Attend the Gathering on Saturday.
  • Return home on Sunday.

2. Amtrak Train ($78 Round Trip):

• Option 2a (Saturday Arrival, Hotel or Host Stay):

• • Take the Saturday morning train from Union Station in Kansas City (departs 8:40 AM, arrives 2:20 PM). Please note that the train can be late. Just keep this in mind.
  • Take an Uber to the Gathering.
  • Stay one night in a hotel OR with a St. Louis member.
  • Return to Kansas City on Sunday (trains leave at 8:10 AM or 3:11 PM).
• Option 2b (Friday Arrival, Hotel Stay):

Take the Friday morning train (8:40 AM) OR evening train (4:05 PM) from Kansas City.

• • Stay two nights in a hotel.
  • Attend the Gathering on Saturday.
  • Return to Kansas City on Sunday (trains leave at 8:10 AM or 3:11 PM).

• LGBTQ+ Exhibit at the History Museum
• The Gateway Arch
• Catholic Cathedral & Basilica
• Holocaust Museum
• St. Louis Aquarium (at Union Station)
• The Old Courthouse (Dred Scott decision site)
• St. Louis Ferris Wheel (at Union Station)

Our Group’s Plan (Sam, Jim, Doug, and others):

We are choosing Option 2b:

• Taking the Friday morning Amtrak train to St. Louis.
• Staying two nights at the Drury Inn at the Arch.
• Attending the Gathering on Saturday.
• Returning on the Sunday afternoon Amtrak train (4:05 PM).

This allows us to enjoy the train ride together, avoid potential train delays on Saturday and have time for sightseeing. This will be a really great event. Chose what works best for you and keep an eye out for the Punchbowl invitation for more details!
