Arabia Steamboat Museum in Kansas City

All stories—even great ones—must come to an end. The Arabia Steamboat Museum will be closing its doors November 2026 after over 30 years in Kansas City. But before they leave, let’s venture down to the River Market and explore this fascinating place.
When the The Arabia sank in September 1856 she carried 200 tons of mystery cargo. Lost for 132 years, its recovery in 1988 was like finding the King Tut’s Tomb of the Missouri River. The discovery was truly a modern day treasure-hunting story at its best. Even if you’ve explored this museum, it’s worth another visit. And, if you’re a newcomer it’s a must-see, enormous exhibit. Plus we have the Farmers Market all around us and that is always a joy to explore.
