The Western Pennsylvania Model Railroad Museum – This Friday!
December 30, 2022 @ 11:00 am
The Western Pennsylvania Model Railroad Museum is dedicated to promote and preserve the history of railroads in Western Pennsylvania through the hobby of model railroading. Using model railroading displays and reference materials on the railroad industry and model railroading, the WPMR educates and entertains students and enthusiasts around the world.
The Museum’s main attraction, a 40′ X 100′ scale representation of the tracks between Pittsburgh, Pa. and Cumberland, Md. set in the summer of 1952 will bring back fond memories of the PrimeTimers recent trip to Cumberland Md. where we rode the Frostburg Flyer steam powered locomotive.
Those PrimeTimer adventurers who have been bicycling this past year on the GAP trail will also appreciate the museums replica of this particular section of rail line which has been transformed into what now is the Great Allegheny Passage a bicycle trail.
In addition to this display, the museum also maintains a collection of historical model train sets and many replications of historical building that still exist in today. The museum also offers Model Railroading Classes.
