Plan to join Pittsburgh PrimeTimers on an exciting trip from Pittsburgh to Cass, West Virginia. We will be staying at a restored loggers’ quarters in the quaint, historic Cass Scenic Railroad State Park, then climbing aboard the train for the Bald Knob excursion powered by an authentic steam-driven locomotive.
During our journey, we will be surrounded by breathtaking scenery and stunning autumn foliage. The vibrant colors of the leaves and the crisp mountain air will make for an unforgettable adventure.
In addition to the train ride, there is the option to visit the Green Bank Telescope nearby. This impressive structure is the world’s largest fully steerable radio telescope and is used by scientists from around the world to study everything from pulsars to black holes.
This trip offers a unique opportunity to explore some of West Virginia’s most beautiful natural landscapes and learn about its rich history.
We have reserved overnight lodging for the night of Tuesday, October 10. Cost will depend on the total number staying, and will likely be about $25 per person.
PPT has purchased 10 train tickets because they are starting to sell out already. The train leaves at Noon on Wednesday, October 11 and takes a little over four hours. Tickets are available now through PPT on a first-come, first-served basis. Cost is $92.22 per person. Only two tickets remain. Please email us to buy.
