Special Invitation-Columbus
SPECIAL INVITE NOTICE
The Pittsburgh PrimeTimers are becoming increasingly popular and with good reason! Word is spreading about what a fun, active club we are and people want to be involved with us. One example of this is that we recently received a very nice invitation from our brothers in Columbus asking us to join them for a series of events on Friday, September 4. This would revolve around the Newark Earthworks, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
As many of you know, a good number of our folks are already very excited about our upcoming Paintball event on September 5, which also happens to be the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Plus, a number of us are already planning to head to the Columbus area on August 14-15 for our own activities, including visits to the zoo, steam engine, world’s largest cuckoo clock, night life, etc. So, it’s a very busy time and all of these opportunities are coming very soon! (Maybe some of their folks will connect with us then!)
Because of these coincidences, we are not going to officially accept this invitation from Columbus at this time. (Maybe in the future!). However, it is possible that some of you may wish to attend the September 4 event on your own — even though it would not be an official Pittsburgh PrimeTimers event. Here are a few highlights and contact info if you are interested: Friday, September 4, 2026 . . . These events would occur in Newark, Ohio, in suburban Columbus. (Probably about three or more hours from the Pittsburgh region). Meet in parking lot of the Great Circle Earthworks by 10:45 a.m. Tour of the Great Circle Earthworks led by an Ohio History Connection archaeologist starting at 11 a.m. That would be followed by driving to the Octagon Earthworks for a hike and a stop by the visitor center. Lunch would follow TBD.
If you are interested, please directly contact George Kane of the Columbus group at 1-614-395-7213 with questions and to indicate your interest in attending.
