Free Movie Night
October 15 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Free Film with Free Parking and a Free Social Hour Afterwards
The second free fall film at Calvary Episcopal is based on a tragic 1920 coal mine strike in West Virginia. The 1987 movie Matewan, which airs Thursday, October 15, 2026 at 7:00 p.m., chronicles a racially charged labor action which led to the “Matewan Massacre.”
Rotten Tomatoes critics rated it 94%. Calvary, at 315 Shady Avenue in the Shadyside section of Pittsburgh, has plenty of free off-street parking and is only three blocks from the East Liberty station of the MLK East Busway.
Joe B and Tommy C offer a free social hour next door to the church at 265 Shady Avenue afterwards. The film sponsor says he’s fine if we leave right after the movie ends and before he leads a discussion on it.
RSVP Tommy @ (717) 798-0368 for more details or questions.
