DATE: Sunday, July 23, 2023
TIME: 10:00 AM
This program takes place in person and REQUIRES REGISTRATION with Fee.
For most of the 20th century, St. Louis’s Central West End was a hub of LGBTQIA+ community life and political activism. This tour will explore some of the places that were instrumental in shaping the neighborhood’s fascinating history, including the locations of fabulous nightclubs and progressive churches, the home of the region’s first gay community center, and the starting point of St. Louis’s first Pride march. Along the way we’ll explain how St. Louis’s LGBTQIA+ citizens have been a part of the growth, decline, and renewal of neighborhoods throughout the city.
These tours are associated with Gateway to Pride, presented by the William A. Kerr Foundation. Program sponsorship provided by AARP St. Louis.
