FREE ZOOM TALK: “INS AND OUTS OF HAMBURGERS IN ST. LOUIS”

July 24 @ 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

St. Louis did not invent the hamburger, but it catapulted it onto the national scene when 20 million people came to the 1904 World’s Fair where hamburgers were being served.  The hamburger survived the meatpacking scandals of the early 20th Century, and now they are an iconic food.  St Louis has several different ways of cooking burgers, and several different styles of burgers, and several choices of what kind of patty is used.  Chuck-A-Burger has been here for over 70 years, the White Barn says its burgers are legendary, and steakburgers have become national thanks to Daniel Meyers.  And, you can get a St. Louis Burger in any large town in Iceland.  This talk will also cover the love story where hamburgers saved a silent movie star’s marriage.

All Prime Timers will be emailed a Zoom link for this free talk.
