The ancients knew Scandinavia as a place where the Vikings lived – people who raided, traded, and settled throughout parts of Europe – even reaching North America. Today we know Scandinavia as a place where people have high standards of living, and deep connections to nature. This talk will cover both the ancient and modern eras, and will highlight things to see in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Fjords, Northern Lights, grass roofs, Munch’s “Scream,” runestones, Lutefisk…. plus, a city in Norway that has a church built in the year 1125, but they do not consider the church to be “old”.
