St. Louis has used water transportation for centuries, both for commerce and recreation. Find out how Robert E. Lee improved water transportation in St. Louis. The US Navy has a presence in St. Louis, and we used to have a Missouri State Navy. St. Louis has had floating casinos, as well as a floating McDonalds. Doug Schneider will take a look at all the ways St. Louis has taken to water. And he will take a look at ferries and the numerous streets in the area that have “Ferry” in their names.
Special guest for this talk: Prime Timer John Carroll. His great-grandfather was a riverboat captain, his grandfather was a riverboat captain, his father was a riverboat captain, and John worked on riverboats.
