Ste. Genevieve is Missouri’s first European settlement, older than St. Louis. The town celebrates its French heritage in many ways: French colonial buildings, the Centre for French Colonial Life, French festivals, and restaurants with French items on their menus. The town boasts a new National Historical Park. Besides historical heritage, there is lots of nearby scenic splendor. For modern visitors, there are plenty of gift shops, art galleries, and antiques stores. And the Mississippi River has always had an impact on the town.
