VISIT TO THE “MISSISSIPPI RIVER FESTIVAL EXHIBIT” AT THE MADISON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
June 21 @ 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
The Mississippi River Festival (MRF) was a summer outdoor concert series held during the years 1969-1980 on the campus of Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois. The Festival was notable due to its central midwestern location, the natural ambience of its outdoor venue, and the consistently high quality of performers. Many of the artifacts in this exhibit were provided by Lyle Ward, who was the Managing Director of the Festival for several years.
Besides the MRF exhibit, we will also visit the historical rooms in the Weir House, built in 1836.
This event will start with Optional lunch at 11:00 AM before the visit to the exhibit. Lunch will be at Sneaky’s Burger Joint (which started out as a food truck). https://sneakysburgertruck.com/
If you are not interested in lunch, plan on being at the Madison County Historical Society at 12:15 PM.
Please RSVP to Doug Schneider at ParadiseDouglas@gmail.com to let him know you plan to attend the event. Please indicate if you are interested in Lunch + Exhibit or Exhibit only.
